Acrylic and oil pastels on chunky canvas
40x40cm
I based this piece around one of my favourite songs, 'The Dutchman', who believes the tulips bloom beneath the snow. It's a song full of emotion and I wanted this piece to reflect that, so there are layers and layers on this painting. Some of the younger tulips are almost lost in the thick forest of grasses but they will find their way to the top, like their sisters and pierce through that heavy blanket of snow to the blue sky you see peeping out underneath the layer of white. A real favourite of mine.
