Having grown up in a time and place heavily shrouded by Catholicism, between moving statues, apparitions, confessions, communions, confirmations and abominations, I have been left with a cynical view of the role of the church in Ireland. I respect the beliefs of others but do not wish to be part of this. Our Lady of the Peacocks is a celebration of this freedom of expression. She could be a chicken, a peacock or whatever she wishes. She is loved unconditionally. She is almighty.
