Acrylic and oil pastel on standard canvas
60x60cm
Complete freedom. I had a base coat from an abandoned abstract piece. I said to myself, I'm going to save this canvas from a slow death. I will fill it with bright coloured tulips, blue skies and a tropical looking forest of green shoots. I wanted to leave a little of the base coat peeping through to give it that blurry, layered effect, like a mirage. Also the thick and tall tulip stems with little round heads remind me a lot of palm trees with their tall, thick trunks. I wanted to exaggerate the whole scene so that it feels like you are an insect in the grass looking up at this wonderful forest of tulips. I hope it helps you dream of blue skies and happy holidays.
